I have represented numerous personal injury victims throughout the United States, typically they are people who have suffered an occupational exposure disease like mesothelioma from exposure to asbestos or leukemia from exposure from Benzene.. I do not run a "stuffed shirt" law firm. For example, when you clicked on my biography you probably expected to see what law school I went to, how many lawyer societies I belong to, etc. Apparently, a lot of lawyers need to belong to all these different lawyer groups to feel important. The truth is, the vast majority of these lawyer groups have no real criteria for acceptance, all you need is a law degree and a check and you can belong to literally dozens of lawyer groups. Who cares? If I was going to retain a lawyer, I would want to know three things. 1. Have you ever done a jury trial? 2. What kind of results have you gotten? 3. Are you going to keep me informed, return my calls and treat me as an equal human being?
Since becoming a lawyer in 1989, I have personally done over 75 jury trials. It's probably over 100, but I've lost count. I am definitely not afraid to go to court. Because I am willing to go to court, I have achieved numerous multi-million dollar settlements for individual plaintiffs. Look, if it is important for you to know, I did just fine in college and law school. Keep reading, you will see I didn’t have a choice. And I did pass the New York State Bar exam, widely regarded as the toughest Bar Exam in the Nation, the first time. I also passed that portion of the Bar Exam that I was required to take to be admitted to practice law in Texas the first time too. I was recently granted a United States Patent for an internet program that I invented that essentially makes it easier to Lawyers to communicate with clients via the internet while at the same time preserving the attorney- client privilege. Okay, so maybe you would say that I am not a dummy, I mean they just don’t go around handing out patents to everybody. But, you know what; there are a ton of lawyers out there who are smart people so why should you call me. Simple; results. Not many lawyers have achieved as many multi-million dollar settlements as I have and very few lawyers devote their practice almost solely to Mesothelioma and Benzene cases. In your profession I believe you should do one thing and do it well. I live that adage too….when I closed on my house I hired an Attorney, when I needed a will I hired an Attorney. If you ask me to do your will or closing I will politely tell you that’s not what I do. When you retain the services of my law firm, I promise you will not be dealing with a stuffy, old school law firm where it is impossible to get a hold of your attorney. You will be treated with promptness and with courtesy. I simply won't tolerate it any other way. Our testimonials page is the proof.
The injury victims I represent are treated with reverence at my firm. Why? - Because due to negligence they have suffered the most severe injury a person can suffer. These are exactly the type of people that I live and breathe to represent.
People are always asking me,” Where does the’ DUKES’ come from.” When I was in college and law school I worked nights at a grocery warehouse. I worked there Thursday to Sunday. With Friday and Saturday nights free and my internal clocked already primed for the night shift I took on a second job as a Bouncer at a local bar. In the eight years I spent in college I was almost always employed in some local establishment as a Bouncer. The name “DUKES” stuck because I am short and stocky and on a very few occasions was called upon to remove a patron from the bar. Trust me, I was far from a bruiser, in fact what I was really good at was being able to talk the most obnoxious drunk into going out into the parking lot. The minute they walked out the front door I would close it behind them and go back to my job. Had you come into one of the bars I bounced at you would most likely see me there at the front door sitting on my stool reading one of my law books. I’d look up at you as you came in, “ID Please” and then go back to my books. Like I said, my Dad is a farmer, I credit him for teaching me all about work ethic but when it came to paying tuition and passing my classes, that was up to me. When I am not doing lawyer stuff, I can usually be found playing in the dirt with my Bulldozer, Bobcat or one of my Kubotas’. You can take the boy off the farm but. When I'm not moving dirt I might be cruising in one of my cars. In the winter time I spend the cold nights working in my woodshop where I enjoy making cabinet quality furniture, in the summer time I race competitive motocross. I go to the gym year round and, of course, enjoy spending time with my family.
